A report on IBJ.com says that a plug-in electric-vehicle demonstration program in the Indianapolis area could begin as early as this spring, citing an announcement today by an official for clean-energy consortium Energy Systems Network.
Paul Mitchell, CEO of ESN, said officials are working to use plug-in hybrids made by several manufacturers, including Norwegian car maker Think Global, which plans to manufacture U.S. models in the northern Indiana city of Elkhart.
Awesome. Indy should take the lead in electric vehicles. How about these ideas (none originally mine):
ReplyDeleteFree metered parking downtown for electric vehicles. Or remove meters along a street and put "Electric Vehicle Parking Only" signs up.
An "Indianapolis 100-Charged" (race at the motor speedway for fast electric vehicles).
A gradual replacing of the city's fleet with electric vehicles.
Push to get Toyota to manufacture the Prius here.
