Dr. Amy Sherman will talk about "Creating Financially Literate Hoosiers: A Successful Urban Youth Initiative" (part of the Ideas on Indiana discussions) from 8:30-10:30 a.m. 17 September at the WFYI Teleplex, 1630 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis.
Dr. Sherman is a senior fellow at Sagamore Institute for Policy Research.
Last year, Sagamore Institute launched a collaborative initiative to increase financial literacy among low-income youth in Indianapolis. The Ele:Vate Indy Youth project uses an innovative, online mini-economy called Economis to help young people learn the everyday money management skills required to succeed in today’s world. It is designed to provide hands-on experience in earning and spending, banking, budgeting, and investing.
After Dr. Sherman's presentation, there will be a discussion by those who have implemented this initiative.
Reserve a space by contacting Susan Stinn, 317:472-2053.
