The whimsical ceramic figurines (pictured) of Professor Dee Schaad, chairman of the University of Indianapolis' Department of Art & Design, are a familiar sight on the UIndy campus. This month, local art lovers have a chance to see them in a downtown Indianapolis gallery.The exhibition, "History, Myth, and Current Events", continues through 1 June at Carreño Studio and Gallery, 901 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis.
Professor Schaad cites influences such as Pieter Bruegel and Hieronymous Bosch in discussing his humorous and sometimes grotesque portrayals of figures from literature, politics, mythology and pop culture.
