GOP vs. Planned Parenthood

"It's amazing to think that the Republican-led Senate would put the health and welfare of women at risk just to score political points with their conservative and tea party base." (from the Indianapolis Times)

I don't usually quote Terry Burns, but this time he's spot on. This Indianapolis Observer wonders whether the Republicans supporting this measure are going to step in and pay for all the health care now given to Indiana residents by Planned Parenthood!

Do they really think we won't remember this idiocy at the next election?

Well first of all, maybe 1% of the voters would actually cast a ballot based on Planned Parenthood and most of those people are people who very much dislike PP. It's a winning issue for Republcians.

I don't want a dime of my tax dollars going to an outfit that is the biggest provider of abortions in the country.

Planned Parenthood is being disingenous in its defense. This has nothing to do with people being against women's health. Rather it is all about a for profit company wanting to keep a monomply on government family planning contracts. I, like most PP opponents, have no problem with other companies providing family planning services. I have a huge problem with PP receiving my tax dollars and using those contracts to free up money to fund abortions.

Abortion is legal, Paul, and a necessary part of family planning services in the 21st Century.

The GOP is behind the times on this issue.
